Section 106 Consultation and Supporting Docmentation

The Park has provided a draft Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) developed in Section 106 consultation with the PA State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and other consulting parties for public review. This agreement documents the determination of adverse effect resulting from the planned demolition of the Bishop House and Barn and stipulates certain measures to mitigate the adverse effect. Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and its implementing regulations, 36 CFR 800, requires federal agencies to consider the effects of undertakings on historic properties and to provide the SHPO, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and other interested parties an
opportunity to review and comment on the undertaking.

Based on comments received in an initial public comment period, we are providing additional documentation for review:
• Correspondence—Section 106 correspondence with the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office documenting the Park's determination of adverse effect and summarizing the consideration of alternatives to demolition.
• HRSF and SHPO Correspondence - In 2018 the Park evaluated the Wright House and Carriage House for National Register of Historic Places eligibility (NRHP). A Historic Resource Structure Form (HRSF) was completed and the Park received concurrence that the House and Carriage House are not eligible for listing on the NHRP.
• National Register of Historic Places Nomination (2004) for the Gettysburg National Military Park Historic District in which the Wright Farmstead is listed as a noncontributing property.
