15th Street Cycle Track Removal and road repaving
The National Park Service and the Federal Highway Administration have prepared categorical exclusions (CE)s for the removal of the 15th Street Cycle Track along with the road repaving project. A categorical exclusion is a type of review under the National Environmental Policy Act used for categories of actions that do not result in significant environmental impacts. When a project fits within an established categorical exclusion and no extraordinary circumstances are present, the agency may document its review without preparing a more detailed environmental assessment or environmental impact statement. As is the case for this project.
Plans for the project removal have been delayed and due to this change in the anticipated project timeline, the National Park Service the Federal Highway Administration will be revisiting the projects potential impacts to ensure that prior assumptions, supporting information, and agency coordination remain current and accurate.
