Developmental Concept Plan and Environmental Assessment
Superintendent Aaron LaRocca today announced the availability of the Development Concept Plan (DCP) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. The NPS has prepared a DCP/EA, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to assess the environmental impacts of the proposed alternatives and to provide the decision-making framework for the Park. The DCP will guide management of recent and planned land acquisitions, facilities, parking, roadways, trails and any future development or rehabilitation in the park's developed areas.
The DCP/EA evaluates three alternatives, including a no-action alternative (alternative 1) and two action alternatives (alternatives 2 and 3). The action alternatives present a reasonable and feasible approach that meets the purpose of and need for action. Alternative 2 is the preferred alternative because it best meets the purpose and need for the proposed action as well as the desired conditions for the Park.
The NPS is seeking public feedback on the DCP/EA during a 30-day public comment period. We encourage you to access the DCP/EA on the project website, share your thoughts and ideas about the information presented in the DCP/EA. Comments will be accepted for 30 days after publication of the DCP/EA, until May 30, 2025.
The NPS will host a virtual public meeting on May 8, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm ET, to present an overview of the project and provide attendees an opportunity to ask questions and submit comments. Meeting Link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/87173381726?pwd=raSN2aiuZiHVeowOU6zbXbrvHgZ9d9.1
