Foothills Parkway Section 8D Environmental Assessment

Great Smoky Mountains National Park announces the release and public comment period for the Foothills Parkway Section 8D Environmental Assessment (EA) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and National Historic Preservation Act. The public comment period for the EA will begin July 22, 2024 and conclude August 21, 2024. You are encouraged to review the EA provided in the link below and provide comments on the proposed action and impact analysis.

During this period, the Park will host a ZOOM virtual public meeting starting at 5:00 pm on July 30, 2024. You are invited to attend this meeting to learn more and ask NPS representatives questions about the EA. Park staff will present an overview of the EA from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will then be available to answer questions from the public until 6:00 p.m. Please visit the meeting notices link on this page for more information on how to participate in the virtual public meeting.
