Alaska Region Coastal Park Units Fire Management Plan Environmental Assessment

The National Park Service is seeking public input on the Alaska Region Coastal Park Units Fire Management Plan (FMP) Environmental Assessment (EA) for five coastal AK park units: Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Kenai Fjords National Park, Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, which includes the Chilkoot National Historic Trail park unit, and Sitka National Historical Park. This EA would ensure compliance with NPS Director's Order #18, Wildland Fire Management. An approved FMP would reduce the risk of wildfire to human communities, provide park managers direction and guidance to assist when making decisions related to wildland fire activities, and maintain or restore the integrity of park ecosystems.

The public can review and comment on the EA from June 20 through July 21, 2024, using the "Comment Now" button below.

Comments submitted by phone or email will not be accepted.
