Chiricahua National Monument Seeks Public Input on Proposed Camping Fee Increases for Bonita Canyon Campground

Park Management is considering an increase in the camping fee at Bonita Canyon Campground in Chiricahua National Monument. The proposed rate increase will result in new fees to be; Individual Sites- $25 per site/ per night and the Group Site- flat rate of $50 per night. The current camping rates are; Individual sites- $20 per site per night, and a Group site- fee of $3/ per person/ per night, minimum of 8 persons. These have remained the rates for Individual sites since 2017 and for Group sites since 2007. All reservations are made through Recreation.gov, which includes a contracted cost to NPS fee of $8.40 per (individual or group) reservation.

The fees collected at Chiricahua National Monument remain in the park, used to forward projects that directly benefit the visitor. The new revenue from the fee increase will be used to provide enhanced visitor services; including repair and maintenance of facilities, resource protection, and additional visitor programs and services, and an emphasis on park-deferred maintenance projects. Campground restroom renovations and Campground visitor wi-fi access projects are planned to begin work in 2024.
