Draft EA Lawco Trigger #1 Cross-boundary Exemption

Texian Operating Company, LLC, on behalf of Lawco Resources LLC and Lawco Osage Operating, LLC is proposing to directionally drill the Trigger No. 1 (Trigger #1) well to explore a valid existing non-federal mineral lease. The proposed Lawco Trigger #1 would be located on private property approximately 1,855 feet north-northwest of the Big Thicket National Preserve boundary at the nearest point.

The purpose of this project is for the National Park Service (NPS) to evaluate Lawco's application to drill and determine whether the directional wells qualify for an exemption under NPS regulation 36 CFR 9.32e. The need is for the NPS issue an exemption to the operations permit requirement consistent with resource protection mandates and standards as directed by 36 CFR Part 9 Subpart B § 9.70- § 9.73.
