Final Visitor Use Management Plan for Dry Tortugas National Park
Dry Tortugas National Park's Visitor Use Management Plan tiers from the 2001 general management plan amendment (GMPA), further articulating the goals set out therein and addressing visitor use issues and opportunities that have emerged or have become better understood since the general management plan amendment was written and approved.
This plan is designed to provide guidance for management of visitor use-related issues in the park. Additional project-specific planning and environmental compliance efforts may be required to implement actions identified in the plan. All future efforts would include an analysis of potential effects and employ relevant department and agency standards and guidelines, as well as coordination with stakeholders, academic institutions, local governments, and state and federal agencies, as appropriate. Therefore, individual actions identified in this plan will be evaluated for their compliance and stakeholder needs at a time when those projects are ready for implementation.
The management strategies identified in this plan will be accomplished over the years as the plan is implemented based on the availability of funding and staffing capacities. Strategies will also be updated and adjusted as needed.
