Revised Template for Interpretation and Education Service Agreement & Intellectual Property Agreement

Interpretation and Education Service Agreement:

The Interpretation and Education Services Agreement tiers off of DO 6, Interpretation and Education and will satisfy the requirements of DO 32, Section 8.7, which states that a legal instrument other than the Standard Cooperating Association Agreement is required to authorize an Institute or other in-depth education program conducted in support of the NPS mission.

The purpose of this agreement is to establish a foundational framework to guide and enhance the Service's partnerships with organizations that provide high-quality, meaningful interpretation and education services in national parks. This agreement recognizes the important role of partners in advancing the Service's interpretation and education mission. It acknowledges the creativity and scope of partner-provided services and seeks to foster collaborative efforts that leverage the strengths of each partner for the benefit of the public.

Attachment to the Interpretation and Education Service Agreement Regarding Use and Creation of Intellectual Property:

Historically, there has not been an Intellectual Property Attachment to the Interpretation and Education Services Agreement. The purpose of the Attachment is to grant the Partner use, under certain conditions, of Intellectual Property (IP) generated under the agreement or by NPS, while protecting the IP rights of the Partner. This attachment will also establish the NPS's rights and ownership for multiple IP types and ensure the continued use of the created content.
