Civic Engagement Comment Summary Report

Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park (HAVO) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) have released the Civic Engagement Comment Summary Report.

The intent of the project is to repair and/or replace park buildings and critical infrastructure as well as USGS-operated facilities and equipment damaged during the 2018 eruption and summit collapse of Kīlauea volcano. The project also includes plans for the potential future use of the Uēkahuna Bluff area, which has geologic, natural, and cultural significance and is regarded as sacred by many Native Hawaiians and other groups. In addition, enhanced visitor services within the summit area were included in the design concepts for the project.
