The purpose of the plan is to guide NPS managers in protecting human health and safety, natural and cultural resources, and developed facilities from the adverse effects of wildland fire. Issues to be addressed include protecting visitors, neighbors, and NPS staff from fire, reducing hazardous fuels, working with park neighbors to prevent fires and fire damage, and protecting cultural and natural resources associated with the site.
