Cyclorama Building Environmental Assessment

The National Park Service is pleased to provide the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Final Disposition of the Gettysburg Cyclorama at Gettysburg National Military Park. The EA describes and analyzes three alternatives regarding the future of the Gettysburg Cyclorama building.

The NPS is responding to a March 2010 decision of the United States District Court directing the NPS to undertake a site-specific environmental analysis on the demolition of the Cyclorama building and to consider "non-demolition alternatives" to its removal before any implementing action is taken on the building. The building is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places

In 2010 the park hosted two public workshops which encouraged community and public participation in crafting the alternatives for the EA.

The park will accept comments on the EA from the public for a period of 30 days closing on September 21, 2012. Park staff will host a public meeting on September 6, 2012 where members the public can review and comment on the document.
