the Endangered Species Management Plan at the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area.

 
Description:
The National Park Service (NPS) has completed an Environmental Assessment evaluating alternatives for an updated Endangered Species Management Plan for the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area (NRA). The purpose of the new plan is to update a 1992 piping plover management plan and address additional species that were either not present on Sandy Hook in 1992 or are species listed as threatened or endangered by the State of New Jersey.

The park proposes to continue its protection efforts of state and federal listed threatened and endangered species through a variety of conservation measures including; education, seasonal beach closures, enforcement of park regulations, and improved predator management.

Meeting Directions/Instructions:
Sandy Hook is located off Route 36, approximately 12 miles east of Garden State Parkway Exit 117. Travel to Fort Hancock at the end of Sandy Hook.
