MOCA/TUZI: Proposed 2015 Fee Rate Changes

Tuzigoot National Monument » MOCA/TUZI: Proposed 2015 Fee Rate Changes » Document List

The National Park Service (NPS) is conducting stakeholder outreach to gauge support for possible fee changes to entrance fees authorized by the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA) of 2004. FLREA requires that the public have opportunities to participate in the development of, or change to, a recreation fee established under the Act.

The current park entrance fee at Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments is 5 dollars per person. The NPS is considering an increase to 10 dollars per person. Entrance fees would not be charged to persons under 16 years of age or holders of the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreation Senior, Access or Military Passes.

We are committed to keeping the park affordable, but we also want to provide visitors with the best possible experience. If supported by the public, increased entrance fees would allow parks to invest in the improvements necessary to provide the best possible park experience for visitors.

Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments are strong economic engines for the surrounding area. In 2012, more than 552,693 park visitors contributed $29 million to the local economy and supported 421 jobs related to tourism. Your comments on the proposed fee increase are important. Following public meetings and comment analysis, feedback will determine how, or if, a fee increase would be implemented. Thank you for your support.
