Priority List of NPS Land with Significantly Restricted or No Public Access

Nominated lands must meet the following requirements and considerations:
• Must be managed by the NPS.
• Must be at least 640 contiguous acres.
• Must have significantly restricted or no public access.
• Potential for public access and the likelihood of resolving the absence of, or restriction to public access, are among other criteria for consideration.
For example, if a 640 acre or greater parcel of NPS land is completely surrounded by privately owned land with significantly restricted or no public access, the NPS may consider adding this to the priority list and begin working with states, local governments, nonprofit organizations and/or property owners to acquire land or collaborate with partners on other conservation measures that could provide public access to the NPS land.
Recommendations must include the following information:
• Location of the land or parcel.
• Total acreage of the land or parcel.
• Description or narrative about the land's restricted or complete lack of access.
• Any additional information the NPS should consider when determining if the land should be on the NPS's priority list.
How to Comment: If you wish to identify lands for the NPS to consider for inclusion on the priority list, please provide the location, acreage, and how public access is limited or non-existent. Public comments will be accepted through January 4, 2020. Comments that you submit in response to this request are a matter of public record. Before including your address, telephone number, electronic mail address, or other personally identifiable information in your comments, you should be aware that your entire comment (including your personally identifiable information) may be made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us to withhold your personally identifiable information from public review, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
All commenters are encouraged to review the required criteria and include additional information you'd like the NPS to consider as to why the parcel should be on the NPS's priority list. Once the comment period closes the NPS will evaluate the nominations to determine which lands meet the requirements and considerations specified by the Act.
