Imus Creek Mudslide Recovery

North Cascades National Park Service Complex » Imus Creek Mudslide Recovery » Document List

Stehekin Community:

As you may know, since the September 6th, 2013 rain event, park staff and a local contractor have made efforts to clean up the debris flow area near the Landing. Most of the vehicles in the long-term parking lot above the Imus House have been unburied and many vehicle owners have removed them. In order for the mudslide area to be cleaned up, this long-term parking lot is closed until further notice.

Some vehicles have been totally destroyed and have been moved to the Summer Barge Area. With winter approaching, all vehicles will need to be removed from the long-term parking area and the Summer Barge Area by December 6, 2013. If this closure affects you, please make arrangements with someone local to remove your vehicles by then if you are not currently in Stehekin.

In order to keep the short term parking spaces (day-use, 7 and 14 day) available to everyone, the time limitations for these parking lots will be enforced.

Should you have any questions, please contact Rangers Andy Craig <> or Doug Tangen <> at 360-854-7365 X 12 or come by the Golden West Visitor Center.
