Tsankawi Unit Management Plan
Superintendent Jason Lott has announced that the National Park Service, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, is initiating a planning effort to evaluate alternatives and their potential impacts that may be associated with improving resource protection and visitor understanding of the unique Tsankawi Unit of Bandelier National Monument. The NPS decision at the conclusion of this process will provide guidance and direction for managing visitor safety, accessibility, and resource protection for the next 10 years.
At this time, the Superintendent invites the public to participate in a 60-day scoping period to solicit public input on issues, concerns, and/or opportunities regarding the management of cultural and natural resources in the Tsankawi Unit. By sharing your opinions and ideas about the unique resources and experiences at Tsankawi, you can make a difference in the eventual outcome of the project. Your insight and comments are essential to a successful planning process and identification of an alternative selected for implementation.
