PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 5, 2011.

George Washington Memorial Parkway has completed an Environmental Assessment/ Assessment of Effect (EA/AoE) for a proposed Fort Hunt Park Site Development Plan and wants your input to help identify an overall direction for park management. The NPS announces a 30-day extension to the comment period the Environmental Assessment/Assessment of the EA/AoE to solicit public comment regarding the proposed Fort Hunt Site Development Plan (SDP) that will now be open until November 5, 2011.

Fort Hunt Park is a 105- acre site with rich historical significance, located along the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia. The park currently serves as a popular destination for picnicking and recreation.

The purpose of the proposed SDP is to identify an overall direction for park management of Fort Hunt Park, by clearly defining specific resource conditions and the desired visitor experience in order to improve the balance of recreational use of the park with resource protection and interpretation objectives.

This EA/AoE has been completed in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), as well as other applicable laws, regulations and policies.
