Dear Interested Party:
The National Park Service (NPS) is proposing to construct an interagency center in conjunction with Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Pleasant Grove Ranger District (PGRD) at the mouth of American Fork Canyon, as well as a new visitor facility at the cave trailhead of Timpanogos Cave National Monument. The purpose of this project is to improve visitor and employee safety from the pedestrian hazard along the state highway and the rockfall hazard; provide for visitor enjoyment and education; and provide new efficient facilities for the monument and PGRD.

The NPS initiated the Environmental Assessment process for this project in the summer of 2009 and conducted initial public scoping. Since then, a transit feasibility study was conducted for the monument. With the results from that study, the NPS has developed new alternatives for consideration in the Environmental Assessment, including the possible operation of a shuttle system between the interagency center and the cave trailhead.

The Environmental Assessment is currently available for public review. For additional information and the opportunity to comment on this project, please use the navigation tabs on the left.
