Big Cypress National Preserve GMP Addition Lands
Dear Friends and Neighbors of Big Cypress National Preserve:

Thank you for your interest in the Draft General Management Plan/Wilderness Study/Off-Road Vehicle Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement for the Addition. Four public meetings / wilderness hearings were held on the draft plan across South Florida this past August and September and they were well attended. We received a lot of great input and we appreciate the time you invested in providing comments.

The comment period for the draft plan closed on September 30, 2009. National Park Service (NPS) staff are now thoroughly compiling and analyzing all of the comments that we received from individuals, organizations, and agencies. You can read the comments provided by various organizations and agencies by clicking on the "Document List" link to the left. All of the official correspondence we received from non-profit organizations; local, state, and federal agencies; and American Indian tribes are posted at this site.

Over the course of the next 9 months the NPS will be working to revise the draft plan based on the public comment we received and produce a final plan that provides a variety of recreational opportunities while continuing to preserve and protect the natural and cultural resources of the Addition. Our goal is to have the final plan ready for public distribution by the summer/fall of 2010.

Once again, thank you for your efforts and your interest and support of Big Cypress National Preserve.

Sincerely,

Pedro Ramos
Superintendent
