||The National Park Service (NPS), Chesapeake and Ohio Canal NHP, is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) regarding the proposed Cumberland Boatyard and Rewatering Project , Cumberland, Maryland. In order to facilitate the development of project alternatives, the Park Superintendent is announcing a 31-day public scoping period to solicit public comments on the proposal. The proposed project would reestablish a canal era boatyard and rewater the historic canal from Mile 181.7 - 184.5 of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal NHP.
During this scoping period, the public is invited to identify any issues or concerns they might have with the proposed project so that the National Park Service can appropriately consider them in an environmental assessment.
