Description: A Notice of Intent was published in the Federal Register on March 12, 2009 for the proposed visitor access improvements within the Brooks River area of Katmai National Park and Preserve. The National Park Service is considering replacing the existing floating bridge and trails with a bridge and elevated boardwalk and relocating the existing barge landing and access road. The proposed visitor access improvements would provide for the continuation of floatplane access on Naknek Lake and Lake Brooks.

The National Park Service will prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the propsed visitor access improvements.
