Old Spanish National Historic Trail » Old Spanish National Historic Trail Comprehensive Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement
A Comprehensive Management Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Statement is underway for the Old Spanish National Historic Trail. The plan will provide general guidance for trail administration.
The trail crosses through or near public lands under the administration of:
6 Bureau of Land Management states, including 23 field offices
2 National Park Service regions, including 11 park units
15 USDA Forest Service national forests
1 US Fish and Wildlife Service national wildlife refuge

Step 1. Develop pre-plan agreement for NPS and BLM
Step 2. Gather data and contact agencies and stakeholders along the trail
Step 3. Conduct public scoping
Step 4. Define purpose and need/develop preliminary alternatives
Step 5. Prepare draft plan/environmental document *
Step 6. Identify environmental impacts and select preferred alternative
Step 7. Public review of draft plan/environmental document
Step 8. Analysis of public comment
Step 9. Prepare final plan/decision document
Step 10. Release final plan/decision document to the public
